Sabeel — Privacy Policy

Sabeel is a prayer-times app. It has no user accounts, no backend server, and no advertising or analytics of any kind. This page explains exactly what the app does with the device permissions it asks for.

Short version: everything the app computes stays on your device. The only network requests it makes are to fetch prayer-time-related public data (location lookups, an optional Islamic-calendar check, Qur'an audio/text) — never anything that identifies you.

Location

Sabeel uses your device's location to calculate prayer times and the qibla direction for where you are. This calculation happens entirely on your device. Location is not sent to us — we don't operate any server that could receive it. Location is only handled by:

Apple's Core Location framework, to get a GPS fix and to reverse-geocode your coordinates to a country/place name (governed by Apple's own privacy policy, not ours);
the app itself, to run the prayer-time and qibla math locally.

You can also set your location manually by typing a place name instead — this skips the location permission entirely.

Microphone

If you choose to record your own voice as a custom adhan (call to prayer) sound, that recording is saved only in the app's private storage on your device. It is never uploaded anywhere.

Other network requests

A few optional features make plain, unauthenticated requests to public third-party services, none of which receive any personal information beyond what's inherent to any web request (like your IP address):

Aladhan API — an optional "live" Islamic-calendar date check (off by default; the on-device calculation is used otherwise).
Al Quran Cloud API / islamic.network — the Qur'an Player's surah list and audio streaming.
UmmahAPI — the "Hadith of the Day" text.

What we don't do

No accounts, no sign-in, no user profiles.
No advertising and no ad networks.
No analytics or usage tracking.
We never see, collect, or store any of your data ourselves — there is no server on our side to store it on.

Data deletion

Every setting and file the app creates lives in the app's own storage on your device. Uninstalling the app removes all of it. There is nothing to request deletion of on our end, because nothing is held anywhere but your device.

Children's privacy

Sabeel does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change too.
